The Roberts Court is about to complete its sixth term. This is also the first term for Justice Elena Kagan and the second for Justice Sonia Sotomayor. It is the first term in 25 years without Justice Stevens present. What themes can be identified in the jurisprudence of the Roberts Court? What have been its major decisions and what is its likely future direction?
This presentation will identify key themes concerning the Roberts Court, both in general and in specific areas, such as the First Amendment, Civil Procedure, Criminal Procedure, and business litigation. It also will look to the future and the issues it likely will deal with soon, such as the constitutionality of the federal health care law, immigration regulation, and marriage equality for gays and lesbians. Thus, coverage will include:
- Roberts Court and the First Amendment
- Roberts Court and civil procedure
- Roberts Court and criminal procedure
- Roberts Court and business litigation
- A look to the future
Register now for this free special event in celebration of Law Day and plan to join Erwin Chemerinsky, Founding Dean and Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of California, Irvine School of Law for this important discussion.
