We recently launched an iPad/iPhone app for Discover PLUS! You can download the app here. The app is a companion to the browser version of Discover PLUS and allows you to download content so you can view it when you’re offline, as well as take notes, bookmark, and highlight text, all of which will sync up to your work on the browser. It also features the same robust search capabilities that we offer on the browser version, so you can get to the exact content that you need.

To help get you up and running on the app in no time, we’ve created a Quick Reference Guide, which you can download here.

PLI Released a New and Updated Mobile App

PLI recently released a newly updated mobile app to make accessing our programs and published content easier than ever!

If your firm or organization subscribes to PLI Discover or Discover PLUS–our eBook libraries–you can access our books from your mobile device.

To start accessing our publications, first, download the app for free from the iTunes store. After you have downloaded the app, you will be asked to log in. Use your PLI username and password.

Once you’re logged in, click on the magnifying glass icon along the navigation panel at the bottom of the screen, then click the “Books” tab. From the Books screen, you can narrow the results list down by practice area, or search for specific titles or topics using keywords. After you’ve selected a title, you can read an individual chapter by selecting it from, the chapter list screen, and you can search through the chapter text by clicking on the magnifying glass icon at the top of the screen and entering your terms.

Selecting a chapter to view will automatically download the chapter to your device. You can delete chapters from the “Downloads” screen by clicking on the red “x” to the right of the chapter title. Be sure to delete chapters after you’ve read them to save room on your device!

Free NYSBA Mobile Ethics app

The New York State Bar Association just came out with an app that has a searchable database of ethics opinions from the NY State Bar Association Committee on Professional Ethics. It has more than 850 opinions on topics including various conflicts of interest, attorney advertising, standards for social media and social networking and more. This app is free and is available for iPhone, Android , and Blackberry. Opinions are keyed to the New York Rules of Model Conduct and are available for sharing via social networks or email.

PLI EBooks …now there’s an app for that

PLI created an application for customers to access PLI’s audio content and complete eBook library at their convenience. If your organization subscribes to PLI Discover—which is PLI’s eBook Library—you will be able to access our eBooks from you iPhone. And the PLI app is free to download at the iTunes store.

How to get to PLI Course Handbooks and Treatises

After you have downloaded the app, you will be asked to log in. Use your PLI username and password. Along the bottom of the screen you will see a navigation menu.

Click on “Search” and then select “Books” to view our Course Handbook Library or “Treatise” to view our Treatise Library. You can view the titles and download the chapters you want to read. After you are finished, don’t forget to remove the download from your device to free up the memory. To remove an item from your device, click on “Downloads.” All your items will be listed, with a red “x” next to them. Click the “x” and the item will be removed. If you need the chapter again, you can always download it later.

Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 3.1.3
